Iroquois Spring 2009 Time Trial

Well I took the b2 up to Erie for my first time trial. I worked with Rich the last week on my set up and getting the vittoria tires on the 404's. The tires were a pain and it took about 15 minutes per tire to get the things on. After everything was set up Brian, Rich and I took the tt bikes out for a ride on the Tanoma loop. I felt pretty strong, but the positioning will take sometime to get used to. Overally, we had 19.7 average going into fulton run, which is a decent time.
So Sunday morning was the time trial and the weather was awesome. I had everything set up and then I noticed that my rear wheel was out of air, so I pumped it up to 150psi and let it sit for a minute. I warmed up on the trainer for about an hour and had everything set up for the race. I rode a few small intervals and decided that my wheel was fine. After my launch, I got the b2 up to a pace of 27mph and rode that steady. About a mine into the race I started to notice a thump in my bike, I figured it was the road and just kept on peddeling. When the road turned into smooth pavement the thumping was still there. I tired to look at my wheel, but I couldnt figure if it was flat or not. Then on the first turn my rear wheel kicked out and I almost dumped it. I stopped and checked out my wheel and it was dead flat. In about a spit second I thought to myself, "ride this out like a man, or quit like a girl" well I ended up riding on it for the remaining of the race. I had a horrible time trying to get the pace above 23mph, but I finished the race. So out of a 12.5 mile tt I road 11miles on a flat tire. Overall my average pace was 21.72 mph and I finished with a time of 34:21, which was 1min 34 sec behind my age category leader. Thats not saying much for him!
