The day the world went away

I rode in a crit today in Erie and had tons of fun dispite my broken saddle. The weather was awesome and the course was a flat and fast six turn speed feast. I competed in the Cat 4/5 race with a bunch teams and a few sandbaggers, but it was fun soloing it and representing AG1R. The race started off fast and I just sat back and sucked wheels and try to avoid some idiot who kept draggin his pedal on the turns. Another idiot in a single speed took off and blasted the field on the first lap, which happened to be netural. It was really funny because I never saw him again. We were holding a 25-27 average on each lap and I felt awesome, until 3 miles in I hit a manhole cover and my carbon saddle broke. I didn't think it was a big deal until I tried to get out of my saddle and noticed it impaled my shorts and went clear through the pad and had me locked in. I tired to tear it, but had little success so I just rode on. Some serious sandbagger broke off 5 miles in and put the whole field a half lap down and rode his way to first. It was funny because no on cheered from him when he crossed the line. With three laps to go, I noticed that people were starting to suck wind and drop their pace, I took over and pulled for the last laps and was in the front on the last straight. I was in my 53x11 gear and was smashing the gear in my saddle, it was a huge pain and I tired to get out but got stuck again and 3 people passed me in the last 10 metets. So thanks to my awesome carbon saddle I couldnt sprint and lost my podium finish. Oh well, at least I get to shop for a new one.
