Sunday's Leg Buster
I decided to go riding Sunday in the hopes that it would be a decent light ride. I might as wheel give up on that thought from here on out. A lot of people showed up and I brought along my wife for the first time. Matt, Bob, Andy, Duane, John Blank, my wife and I set off for a decent 40 mile ride with a few tough hills. The pace wasn’t too fast on the way out to the airport, but I was waiting for someone to make a jump on the nice flat around there. No one took the bait because I was waiting so we made our way out to Clymer with a decent average. Matt ended up dropping off because he completely snapped off a chain link and no one else had a spare lying around. After we rode into a weak rain shower that could not even compare to the previous days downpour. We made our way to Clymer and started to head down 403 South. Andy, Duane, and John started to pick up the pace for a little while until we got to the gas station. From here, we start up one of the worst hills I have been on, however I did not dump my bike over on this one. We slowly made out way up the hill before taking a break on top. I have really been working hard on my hills and have been putting a lot of focus on my pull through. I tend to something focus all of my energy on the pushing motion, but lack on the pull from 5 to 12. It will take time before I can beat Rich or Duane up a hill, but I am slowly improving. There was a decent downhill right over the top and I decided to see if I could get 50 mph on the bike. I sprinted as fast as I could and ended up getting 49.74 mph. I will break 50pmh sooner or later, but will probably have to get more familiar will some of the hills around here. The last thing I need is to crash going over 40pmh on my bike. We ended up finishing on bar slope road and making our way all the way back to Indiana. The overall ride was great and my legs are feeling a lot stronger, especially on hills. After putting 75 miles on my legs within 24 hrs I decided to take a few days off.
